What it is

An extract of rice grain, containing starches, amino acids, sugars and small amounts of antioxidant compounds. It is a staple of Japanese and Korean formulations, where rice has a long history in skincare and bathing rituals. Formulators use it as a gentle hydrator and for the soft finish it leaves.

    Rice-derived sugars and amino acids act as humectants. Popular claims about significant skin brightening are not backed by strong controlled evidence.
