Polyglyceryl-6 Laurate
Well toleratedEmulsifieremulsifiersolubilisercleansing
No meaningful concern for most people; irritation is possible but rare.
What it is
A lauric acid ester of a six-unit polyglycerin chain, this is a mild non-ionic surfactant. It sits between an emulsifier and a cleansing agent, so it appears both in leave-on essences and in gentle rinse-off formulas.
What it does well
Cleanses and emulsifies gently
Non-ionic surfactants of this class interact much less with skin proteins than sulfate detergents, which is why they are chosen for sensitive-skin cleansers.
