What it is
Built on a ten-unit glycerin chain with a single lauric acid attached, this ester is strongly water-loving and behaves as a mild solubiliser. Formulators use it as a plant-derived alternative to polysorbates in clear toners, essences and gentle cleansing products.
What it does well
Solubilises oils and fragrance without PEG chemistry
It performs a similar job to polysorbate 20 in clear water-based formulas and is accepted by natural-certification schemes.
