Vit C Energising Face Mask

Worth reading before you pay eleven euros for one sheet. The vitamin C the name sells is magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, twenty-seventh of thirty entries - below the dye. What is actually high here is niacinamide at seven and glutathione at twelve, both credible brightening actives; the mask would be better named after them.

What stands out in the list

Worked out from the ingredients, not the packaging claims.

  • Contains fragrance

Listed as Parfum/Fragrance, which can stand for dozens of undisclosed aroma chemicals. Fragrance is one of the most common causes of cosmetic contact allergy.

  • 1 ingredient flagged for pregnancy

Glutathione is usually avoided or used with caution during pregnancy. This is what the ingredient entries say, not medical advice, so ask your midwife or doctor.

  • No drying alcohol

No ethanol, alcohol denat. or isopropyl alcohol in the list. Fatty alcohols such as cetearyl alcohol are not drying and do not count.

  • Barrier-supporting actives

Contains Niacinamide, Panthenol, ingredients with reasonable evidence for calming and supporting the skin barrier.
