No meaningful concern for most people; irritation is possible but rare.

What it is

Behenyl alcohol is a 22-carbon fatty alcohol, typically produced from rapeseed or other vegetable oils. Its longer chain makes it harder and higher-melting than cetyl or stearyl alcohol, so it is used where a formulator wants a firm, powdery-soft cream rather than a soft one.

What it does well

  • Builds a firm, non-greasy cream texture

As a consistency factor it structures the oil phase, letting a formula feel substantial without adding shine.
