Fragrance-free, and dearest here

Anua face masks

Alone among the shelves with a page here, every mask is fragrance-free - and these labels go further than that: not one of them prints parfum, and not one breaks a declared fragrance allergen out by name. The lists are the longest of the shelves with a page here, running well above the catalogue's median and sitting close together rather than spreading around an outlier. The shelf is hydrogels and sheets and nothing else, every mask of it Korean, and it is the dearest shelf with a page here by the median application - over per-use figures counted off a pack rather than worked out from its size.

Prices are indicative, captured once from the source recorded on each product page, and they drift.

The cheapest application here is Anua PDRN Serum Mask 100 Hyaluronic Acid Capsule €4.95, 45 entries and the dearest Anua Heartleaf 70 Soothing Collagen Mask €7.94, 35 entries.

This is not Anua’s page and it is not affiliated with them. It is every Anua mask we hold, read from the back of the pack - the name is used to identify the products, and nothing here is paid for, sponsored or an affiliate link.

The short read

  • What marks these lists out is not a name the rest of the catalogue lacks: every entry in the cluster below is printed elsewhere in the catalogue too, and what distinguishes the shelf is that it carries them at many times their catalogue shares - hyaluronic acid and hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid furthest above, adenosine on every list here, and niacinamide, caprylyl glycol, dipotassium glycyrrhizate, hydroxyacetophenone and allantoin behind them. The shelf does print names that appear nowhere else in the catalogue, but each of those is carried by a lone mask here rather than across the shelf, so it is the cluster and not the one-offs that characterises these lists.

  • Most of the shelf is clear of our pregnancy flag and some of it is not, and the split follows the format: the sheets carry what the flag is raised on and the hydrogels do not. That is a reason to read the list rather than a verdict on any of them.

  • Every mask here is free of both an essential oil and a drying alcohol. None is recorded vegan, and none is recorded as not vegan either - the dataset holds no vegan record for this shelf at all, which is not the same thing as a mask that fails the test.

  • The formats split the price between them, the sheets at the cheaper end and the hydrogels above them with no overlap. Unlike the shelves where a split like that is partly a difference in how the figure was arrived at, both ends here are counted off a pack.

  • The encyclopaedia has an entry for a shade less of each list here than it does across the catalogue, so slightly more of these labels than the catalogue's average is printed in names the site makes no claim about either way.

What these lists print that others do not

Not the most common ingredients - water is on nearly every list ever written and tells you nothing about who formulated the mask. These are the entries that appear far more often here than across the 219 masks as a whole, counted by encyclopaedia entry rather than by printed name. A shelf this size makes coincidences cheap, so nothing appears below that is on fewer than four of these lists.

No meaningful concern for most people; irritation is possible but rare.

Names without a link have no encyclopaedia entry yet, so we make no claim about them beyond the count.

The 10 side by side

A brand needs 5 masks to carry a page, which is the floor at which a shelf says something a filter could not, and 10 of the 91 brands in the catalogue reach it. The other 81 are still in the catalogue and out of this table: 69 of them hold one or two masks, and 51 hold exactly one, and a median over one product is not a median. This is the one family whose whole partition will not go in a table, so a superlative here scoped to all brands is one a reader has to take on trust - the five that are so scoped are listed in lib/brands.ts for a reviewer to re-check.

What these labels print

Seven readings of the ingredient list, each counted the same way across this shelf and across the whole catalogue, so the second column is the baseline the first is worth reading against. Every one of them is a statement about what is printed on a pack - not about what a mask does, and not a verdict on any of them. The pregnancy flag in particular is a reason to read a list rather than a warning: it marks a mask carrying something the encyclopaedia says to check, which is a different thing from a mask being unsafe.

Vegan status is recorded for none of the masks here, so that row is a gap in the dataset rather than a reading of these packs. How far into a list we can read is its own reading: the encyclopaedia has an entry for a median of 77% of each list here, against 81% across the catalogue. The rest is printed in names the site cannot yet decode, and an undecoded name is one we make no claim about either way - what we do not know.

Which formats these are

A format is the plainest thing about a mask that is not on its ingredient list - what you buy it in and how you use it - and it explains a good deal of what the readings above look like. A shelf of pots and tubes carries longer, oilier lists than a shelf of sachets, and its price per use is worked out rather than counted.

Formats without a link have too few masks in the catalogue to carry a page of their own.
