• Avène, Caudalie, Filorga, La Roche-Posay, NUXE, THALGO, Typology, Uriage and Vichy are 11 of the 19; Garnier and L'Oréal Paris are the other 8. Seven of the 11 brands hold a single mask each; Avène, Caudalie and L'Oréal Paris hold two apiece.

• One of the 19 is fragrance-free, the smallest share of the three origins here, and 16 print Parfum. Six of the 19 break at least one fragrance allergen out by name.

• Seven of the 19 are clay or wash-off masks - 37% of the group against 19% of the catalogue. Kaolin is on 6 of the 19 and on 23 of the other 184.

• A median of €1.85 an application over a range from €0.22 to €12.69: a Garnier 3-in-1 at one end, a Filorga Time-Filler at the other, with almost nothing in between.

• Eleven of the 19 per-use figures are estimated from pack size. This is a shelf of tubes and pots rather than sachets.

What these lists print that others do not

Not the most common ingredients - water is on nearly every list ever written and tells you nothing about who formulated the mask. These are the entries that appear far more often here than across the 215 masks as a whole, counted by encyclopaedia entry rather than by printed name.

Only three of the eleven origins in the catalogue clear 13 masks, which is the floor at which a page says something a filter could not. The other eight - Japan with 6, the US with 5, Poland with 4, Great Britain with 3, and one mask each from Australia, Latvia, Austria and Malta - stay in the catalogue and out of this table, because a median over one product is not a median.
