On The Wild Side

Sheet Mask Bio Cellulose Collagène Vegan

The list carries 24 entries, short for a sheet mask, and the product's name sells vegan collagen while the list declares no collagen of any kind. Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein at six is what stands in its place. Aqua is first, Glycerin second, Helianthus Annuus Hybrid Oil third, Sodium Hyaluronate fourth and Acacia Senegal Gum fifth. Betula Alba Juice at seven and Fagus Sylvatica Bud Extract at eight are the brand's patented birch-sap and beech-bud complex, and Parfum is at thirteen. The retailer's page states that 22% of the total ingredients come from organic farming.

What stands out in the list

Worked out from the ingredients, not the packaging claims.

  • Contains fragrance

Listed as Parfum/Fragrance, which can stand for dozens of undisclosed aroma chemicals. Fragrance is one of the most common causes of cosmetic contact allergy.

  • 1 essential oil

Naturally derived, and a frequent trigger for reactive skin: Juniperus Virginiana Oil.

  • 1 concentration-capped ingredient

EU law sets a maximum for Sodium Hydroxide. Products on sale in the EU must comply.

  • No drying alcohol

No ethanol, alcohol denat. or isopropyl alcohol in the list. Fatty alcohols such as cetearyl alcohol are not drying and do not count.

  • Nothing flagged for pregnancy

No ingredient on this list is one our encyclopaedia marks as avoided or used with caution in pregnancy. That is not the same as a clearance, so check with your midwife or doctor.
