Cream masks

The cheapest of the five formats with a page here, and the one that reads least like a mask: 29 products, 28 of them European, at a median of 48 cents an application. The lists run longer than the catalogue's median and carry an emulsifier, a fatty alcohol, a plant oil and an antioxidant far more often than the catalogue does. They are also, by a distance, the most fragranced lists of the five formats here.

Prices are indicative, captured once from the source recorded on each product page, and they drift. 12 of the 31 per-use figures are estimated from pack size at a typical application rather than counted off a sheet count.

The short read

  • A median of €0.48 an application - the cheapest of the five formats here, roughly a quarter of what a sheet mask costs per use and about a ninth of a hydrogel.

  • Only 5 of the 29 are fragrance-free, the smallest share of any format here, and 18 declare at least one fragrance allergen on the label. Linalool leads on 13 lists, limonene on 11.

  • Tocopherol is on 21 of the 29, sunflower seed oil on 19 and cetearyl alcohol on 14 - an antioxidant, an emollient oil and a fatty alcohol, each at roughly two to three times its catalogue share (1.8, 3.2 and 2.1). The profile is a moisturiser's rather than an essence's.

What these lists print that others do not

Not the most common ingredients - water is on nearly every list ever written and tells you nothing about a format. These are the entries that appear far more often here than across the 215 masks as a whole, counted by encyclopaedia entry rather than by printed name.

Well tolerated
No meaningful concern for most people; irritation is possible but rare.
Depends on you
Genuinely relevant for some people, or depends on dose and pH.
Worth knowing
EU-restricted, a common contact allergen, or subject to live debate.
What the levels mean ↗

Names without a link have no encyclopaedia entry yet, so we make no claim about them beyond the count.
