Garnier
Salicylic Tissue Mask
€1.65
Unusually front-loaded for a sheet mask: niacinamide fourth, salicylic acid fifth, with capryloyl salicylic acid and gluconolactone behind them. That is three exfoliating acids and a PHA on a fifteen-minute sheet - effective, but not a mask to stack on top of another acid the same evening.
What stands out in the list
Worked out from the ingredients, not the packaging claims.
Contains fragrance
Listed as Parfum/Fragrance, which can stand for dozens of undisclosed aroma chemicals. Fragrance is one of the most common causes of cosmetic contact allergy.
Exfoliating acids
Contains Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid, Gluconolactone. Use sunscreen the following day; EU law caps these (Salicylic Acid: EU max 2% (most face products, incl. masks); 3% (rinse-off hair); 0.5% (body lotion, eye/lip make-up, roll-on deodorant); 0.5% when used as a preservative).
2 concentration-capped ingredients
EU law sets a maximum for Salicylic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide. Products on sale in the EU must comply.
1 ingredient flagged for pregnancy
Salicylic Acid is usually avoided or used with caution during pregnancy. This is what the ingredient entries say, not medical advice, so ask your midwife or doctor.
No drying alcohol
No ethanol, alcohol denat. or isopropyl alcohol in the list. Fatty alcohols such as cetearyl alcohol are not drying and do not count.
Barrier-supporting actives
Contains Niacinamide, Centella Asiatica Extract, ingredients with reasonable evidence for calming and supporting the skin barrier.
