DERMASEL

SPA Totes Meer Maske Erholung

A rich single-use emulsion mask whose selling point, Dead Sea salt, is eleventh, below the coconut oil and the waxes that give it its texture. The interesting entries are lower still: a thermophilic bacterial ferment and bladderwrack extract. It closes on CI 14720, a red azo dye there purely for colour.

What stands out in the list

Worked out from the ingredients, not the packaging claims.

  • Contains fragrance

Listed as Parfum/Fragrance, which can stand for dozens of undisclosed aroma chemicals. Fragrance is one of the most common causes of cosmetic contact allergy.

  • 1 declared fragrance allergen

EU law requires these to be named on the pack: Benzyl Alcohol.

  • No drying alcohol

No ethanol, alcohol denat. or isopropyl alcohol in the list. Fatty alcohols such as cetearyl alcohol are not drying and do not count.

  • Nothing flagged for pregnancy

No ingredient on this list is one our encyclopaedia marks as avoided or used with caution in pregnancy. That is not the same as a clearance, so check with your midwife or doctor.
