Balea

Gesichtsmaske Vitamin C

The vitamin C here is 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid - a stable, water-soluble derivative - and at seventh it is genuinely present rather than decorative. Sunflower oil is second, apricot kernel oil eighth and bitter orange peel oil ninth; the four fragrance materials closing the list (limonene, linalool, pinene, terpineol) come with that orange oil.

What stands out in the list

Worked out from the ingredients, not the packaging claims.

  • 2 declared fragrance allergens

EU law requires these to be named on the pack: Limonene, Linalool.

  • 1 essential oil

Naturally derived, and a frequent trigger for reactive skin: Citrus Aurantium Peel Oil.

  • No drying alcohol

No ethanol, alcohol denat. or isopropyl alcohol in the list. Fatty alcohols such as cetearyl alcohol are not drying and do not count.

  • Nothing flagged for pregnancy

No ingredient on this list is one our encyclopaedia marks as avoided or used with caution in pregnancy. That is not the same as a clearance, so check with your midwife or doctor.

  • Barrier-supporting actives

Contains Panthenol, ingredients with reasonable evidence for calming and supporting the skin barrier.
