Balea
Gesichtsmaske Hyaluron
€0.45 · €0.23/use
Sunflower oil third and denatured alcohol fourth, which is a lot of alcohol for a mask sold on hydration. Sodium hyaluronate is eleventh, with zinc and copper gluconate and a magnesium aspartate for company. The menthol near the end explains the cool feel; the blue CI 42090 explains the colour.
What stands out in the list
Worked out from the ingredients, not the packaging claims.
Contains fragrance
Listed as Parfum/Fragrance, which can stand for dozens of undisclosed aroma chemicals. Fragrance is one of the most common causes of cosmetic contact allergy.
2 declared fragrance allergens
EU law requires these to be named on the pack: Menthol, Tetramethyl Acetyloctahydronaphthalenes.
Drying alcohol, high in the list
Alcohol Denat. appears at position 4, so it is a major part of the formula. Expect a fast, matte finish and possible tightness on dry or reactive skin.
Cooling agents
Menthol produce a tingle that reads as "working", but they can irritate compromised skin.
2 concentration-capped ingredients
EU law sets a maximum for Zinc Gluconate, CI 42090. Products on sale in the EU must comply.
Nothing flagged for pregnancy
No ingredient on this list is one our encyclopaedia marks as avoided or used with caution in pregnancy. That is not the same as a clearance, so check with your midwife or doctor.
Barrier-supporting actives
Contains Panthenol, ingredients with reasonable evidence for calming and supporting the skin barrier.
